Not being a tomato fan, salsas never appealed to me. But for the past few years, I can't get enough of eating this green apple salsa. It often serves me as a late afternoon snack or appetizer when I people come over. It also happens that I prepare it to accompany tacos. It has become a staple in my kitchen!
This recipe is inspired by a recipe I tasted during a Tupperware party organized by my friend Stéphanie. Since the recipe was not vegan I adapted this one to suit my diet, my tastes, but especially what I have in my pantry.
Ingredients
- 3 green apples
- 1/2 red pepper
- 1-2 French shallots
- 1 jalapeno pepper (quantity to taste)
- 1 lime
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of chipotle pepper powder
Preparation
- Remove the peel from the shallots.
- Cut the apples and peppers into large wedges.
- In a food processor, finely chopped the French shallots and the jalapeno pepper.
- Add the apples and peppers in small quantities to the food processor to roughly chop them.
- Add the lime juice, the tablespoon of maple syrup and the chipotle pepper powder.
- Mix everything in the food processor and serve.
